Winchester City Neighbourhood Policing Team Weekly Update It has been a busy one for us this week as we continue to conduct enquiries for ongoing investigations as well as making arrests for a variety of offences. Here are just some of the highlights of what we have been up to this week:
- PC Andrews and PC Freeman attended a community meet at the New Life Church in Stanmore. This was a great way for residents in the area to speak with their local officers around any concerns that they had (pictured below).
- A male was arrested by PC Jeffery for 10 shoplifting offences, a public order, and a common assault. The male has since been remanded into custody pending a court appearance thanks to the investigative work and case file complied by PC Croxton.
- A female was arrested by PC Baldwin for 6 shoplifting offences. The female is currently with us in custody.
- PCSOs Parker and Puntis have attended a joint briefing with the Winchester Street Pastors to discuss local concerns regarding Night Time Economy. You can read more about the Winchester Street Pastors here: https://orlo.uk/oI411
- Whilst out on Night Time Economy patrol, PCSOs Parker and Puntis were made aware of an assault that had just taken place where the suspect had fled the scene. Following a short foot pursuit, the suspect was detained by local venue security before he was arrested by PC Lawrence for an assault and a public order. This is still under investigation but we would like to highlight the importance of Night Time Economy patrols and the joint partnership working with the local venues to ensure these kind of incidents are dealt with swiftly and safely for everyone (pictured below is PC Wheeler out on Night Time Economy patrol).
- And finally, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to PC Harries this week as he leaves us to join the Winchester Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team having worked in the city for the last 5 years. We wish him the best of luck with his new team and he will be greatly missed here!
